MALESE JOW - ACTRESS, SINGER, SONG WRITER
Malese Jow Interview With Gabrielle Reilly

Malese Jow, is the gorgeous, yet sweet, down to earth, intelligent, respectful actress/singer/song writer taking over tinsel town.  Starring, or making guest appearances, Malese's credits include Nickelodeon's "Unfabulous," "Hannah Montana," "iCarly," "Wizards of Waverly Place," "You're so Cupid," "Vampires Diaries," and the list goes on and on. Malese has just signed a album development and production deal so the great news is, she will be dedicated to her music over the summer.  Heads up, her latest song "Red Light" will be released this weekend on her Myspace page!

Malese has everything in the world going her way.  It is an honor to interview Malese, not because she is a star in her field which is one of the prerequisites for being on this site, but because she is such an extraordinarily lovely person.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What advice can you offer people on emotionally handling the word "no" and the rejections that the entertainment industry (and life) throws at everyone sometimes?

Malese Jow:  Well, to be in this business you can't take rejection too personally. Coming to grips with how many people are going after the same roles will make you realize that it's more like a business decision and nothing personal; and more than anything it should make you want to fight even harder for the next opportunity that comes along.  Your mental "well-being" should never be based on your success in Hollywood, for it's definitely a roller coaster!

Gabrielle Reilly:  What tip do you have for developing a successful career?

Malese Jow:  Persistence.  Persistence.  Persistence. You have to be ready to fight and have a positive attitude while you're doing it!

Gabrielle Reilly:  What is one of your favorite life philosophies that may inspire our readers?

Malese Jow:  The never-failing..."Everything happens for a reason". Life became much easier when I stopped trying to figure things out for myself and let go, knowing that everything would fall into place.

Gabrielle Reilly:  Coming from Tulsa Oklahoma, how are you finding living in LA?  Did your family move to LA?  How do you stay so grounded?

Malese Jow:  I moved to California with my mom and siblings when I was 9.  Since I was so young, I didn't come into Hollywood feeling the pressure to "make it".  It just felt like I was just on an extended vacation, getting to go to auditions with other kids my age.  Because I was surrounded by my family from the beginning, they've helped me to stay grounded and "real".

Gabrielle Reilly:  Do you feel any personal responsibility to other teens becoming the role model you have become?

Malese Jow:  It's an honor to me that I could be considered a role model.  I'm definitely not claiming perfection or anything close; I'm just a normal girl with an abnormal career.  So aside from the characters that I play, if people care enough to get to know the real me and find an admiration for my personal lifestyle, it's beyond flattering!

Gabrielle Reilly:  What does your weekly fitness routine look like?

Malese Jow:  If I'm working it's harder to have a "routine" because the hours are unpredictable.  When I'm at home, I always find at least 30 minutes to take my dogs out and be active with them.  The pool is also a great way to stay in shape without feeling like I'm working out.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What does your diet look like throughout the year?

Malese Jow:  I'm not too health conscious in a "diet" way, I just naturally have a tendency to reach for things that are good for me.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What are your favorite beauty tips?

Malese Jow:  I have many little beauty tips that I enjoy...the best one that I can share is to wash your face before bed and get lots of sleep. It's easy and it really makes a difference!
