JOSH ZUCKERMAN - ACTOR
Josh Zuckerman Interview With Gabrielle Reilly

Josh Zuckerman, from Austin Powers and Desperate Housewives, is not only drop-dead gorgeous, he's smart as well.  A former student at Princeton University, Josh began acting at age ten.

Lucky for us, Josh has dropped in to share some of the attitudes that have made him so successful in life.  It is my pleasure to welcome Josh Zuckerman to The Global Townhall.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What advice can you offer for building a successful career?

Josh Zuckerman:  Listen to your gut and stay excited about your work whether it's 1 line in a Del Taco commercial, a lead in a studio film, or work in class.  Passion for what you're working on and what you have to offer will always feed you.

Gabrielle Reilly:  For all of the home movie/web cam stars out there. what tip can you offer for working in front of a camera?

Josh Zuckerman:  I always think it's important to play from yourself.  You don't have to be someone else or perform like someone else.  Perform like you.  Own, know and use who you uniquely are.  That and don't worry about the camera.  It'll do it's job, you just do yours.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What is one of your favorite life philosophies that may inspire our readers?

Josh Zuckerman:  I try to remind myself that it's all supposed to be play. It's very easy for me to get attached to a destination or result and take everything too seriously.  So I like to keep the word "play" rolling around in my head.  I always love that WB Yeats line, "An aimless joy is a pure joy"

Gabrielle Reilly:  What advice can you offer people on emotionally handling the word "no" and the rejections that the entertainment industry (and life) throws at everyone sometimes?

Josh Zuckerman:  Never take "no" personally.  Because it never is.  Focus on your craft, have a strong work ethic, and remember it's your choice to do this.  If you're an actor either in an audition room or on set or backstage and you feel nervous, nobody's forcing you to be there (Hopefully)!)...so enjoy.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What does your weekly exercise schedule look like?

Josh Zuckerman:  I vary it up.  I don't have a real routine.  But yoga and cycling is definitely in my repertoire every week.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What does your diet look like throughout the year?

Josh Zuckerman:   I'm a Pesco-lacto-ovo vegetarian.  So I don't eat land animals.  Though mostly I focus on eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.  I like the rule of thumb, "If you can't pronounce it or find it in the grocery section, you probably shouldn't be eating it"

Gabrielle Reilly:  What is your favorite "guy" beauty tip?

Josh Zuckerman:   Lavendar essential oil on zits works great.  And it might sound a little bizarre, but I like putting avocado or banana on as a face mask every once in a while.

Gabrielle Reilly:  What was the most interesting aspect of being on Desperate Housewives?

Josh Zuckerman: Besides the ongoing run ins with tram tours -- which is really a staple on the universal Studios Lot -- I'd say never knowing what was going to happen to my character (or who I was gonna strangle) until the night before read-thrus.

Gabrielle Reilly:  How do you balance your life while you spend long days shooting on set?  Or don't you?

Josh Zuckerman:  When I'm working, that takes top priority.  When I'm not working, I try to keep up on everything else (bills, friends, family etc) so that when I am working long hours, I can afford to place all that other stuff on the backburner.
