Ryan Wynott Interview with Maddie and Bran Reilly

Ryan Wynott, better known on Flash Forward as the sick little boy Dylan, has a very impressive resume as an actor of any age.  Super cute, a great actor, dedicated and kind, Ryan is here to do great things in this world... far beyond his acting career.  See what we mean as he stops by The Global Townhall for an interview with Maddie and Bran.

Bran:
What do you do in your free time?

Ryan Wynott: I like to give some of my time to CHF (Children's Hunger Fund) where I help assemble care packages for the needy and recently I have gotten involved with Autism Speaks. I also like to swim, play sports, and enjoy video games just like any other 10 year old!

Maddie: Did you always want to be an actor?

Ryan Wynott: When I was in kindergarten I wanted to work at Legoland and when I was in 2nd grade I wanted to be a roofer but besides that - Yes!

Bran: Who is your role model and why?

Ryan Wynott: I have a few, but in terms of actors, I'd have to say Leonardo DiCaprio.

Last summer when I was cast as Dylan, an autistic child on ABC's Flash Forward, I was a little unsure of how to play the role.  I watched DiCaprio in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" to get an idea about autism.  I had seen him in other movies like Titanic and couldn't believe how good he was.  He really became that character.  I also admire how DiCaprio reaches out to those in need, like the people of Haiti. I want to help make this world a better place too.

Maddie: Have you ever traveled overseas?

Ryan Wynott: Not yet. I would like to go to
Australia and Africa.  I have 48 family members in Australia.  It would be fun to meet them and visit all the cool places there.  Our family sponsors 2 children in Uganda, Africa.  My mom went there on a mission's trip and was able to meet them. I would love to travel there too.

Bran: Did you take any acting classes?

Ryan Wynott: When I was 5 and ½ I asked my parents if I could take acting classes.  They told me to wait until I was 6, thinking I would lose interest. Two weeks before my 6th birthday I gave them my "Birthday Wish List" the only thing written on it was "acting class".  Realizing I was serious, they did some research and signed me up at Young Actors Space in Van Nuys.  After 10 weeks of memorizing scripts and learning techniques an agent visited and asked if I would like to interview at their agency. My parent's encouraged me to use a passage I already knew from the bible (Matt. 28:1-7) as my monologue. This way they would know upfront what our family truly valued.  I did and Judy Savage told me, "We would love to have you as part of our agency." The funny thing is. that happened in 2006 and now in 2010 a dad of one of the extras on FF asked, "Are you the kid who got an agent by saying a bible verse?"

Bran: What type of music do you listen to?

Ryan Wynott: I mainly listen to Hip Hop.  I have also been taking hip hop classes for 2 years.

Maddie: What is your favorite sport to watch?

Ryan Wynott: I would have to say baseball. I play as well, in my opinion I think it's pretty fun.

Bran: Do you have any hobbies?

Ryan Wynott: Baseball, Basketball, Swimming, and Soccer. I'm a big sports guy.

Maddie: How do you fit school work in with your busy schedule?

Ryan Wynott: Well I'm home-schooled so if I have filming the next day I try and do extra schoolwork the day before. My mom's a teacher, so she helps keep me on top of it.

Bran: What do you want to be when you grow up?

An Actor of course!
