Luke Mangan Interview With Gabrielle Reilly 

Luke Mangan, Australia's world renowned chef, has cooked for royalty, hosted his own TV show, has three restaurants around the world, three books out and has partnered up with Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Empire. Alright, and he is Australia's official "Healthy Active Ambassador."  Phew.  Luke has popped into The Global Townhall to give us an update in this interview:

GABRIELLE REILLY: When are you filming the 2009 session of "Appetizing Adventures with Luke Mangan?" 

LUKE MANGAN: No plans yet as my schedule is really hectic.


GABRIELLE REILLY: What network will the series run on in Australia and America?

LUKE MANGAN: In America it runs on the Dish & Food Network, it's yet to be confirmed in Australia.


GABRIELLE REILLY: I noticed you are covering Indonesia in the new series. will you being including a how-to on Nasi Goreng?   (Nasi Goreng is one of my favorite comfort foods after growing up in and around Indonesia.)

LUKE MANGAN: Hopefully when the shooting dates are confirmed.


GABRIELLE REILLY: As an official "Healthy Active Ambassador" for Australia, focusing in particular on children, what is some advice you could give parents to help children?

LUKE MANGAN: Drink less soft drinks and eat less at fast food.

 

GABRIELLE REILLY: Do you enjoy cooking at home or do you like a break when you're at home?

LUKE MANGAN: I love cooking at home, where I just cook simple and fresh.

 

GABRIELLE REILLY: Ok, I have been asked to ask you probably your most asked question... what is your favorite food?

LUKE MANGAN: Steak, chips, béarnaise sauce and good bottle of red wine.

 

GABRIELLE REILLY: Did you cook or focus on cooking as a child?

LUKE MANGAN: Yes, my mum always encouraged me to.

 

GABRIELLE REILLY: What books have you written?

GABRIELLE REILLY: Where can people find your restaurants?

LUKE MANGAN: In Sydney - Glass Brasserie

   In Tokyo - Salt

   In San Fran - South


GABRIELLE REILLY: What work are you doing with Virgin Limited Edition?

LUKE MANGAN: We work closely with Virgin on many different scales such as we do guest dinners on one of Richard's resorts etc.



GABRIELLE REILLY: What charity work are you involved with?

LUKE MANGAN: Anything to do with kids and cancer (i.e. Camp Quality, Starlight, George Gregan Foundation, Cancer Council etc.)
