 JEN HENDERSHOTT, MS. OLYMPIA
Jen Hendershott Interview with Gabrielle Reilly

Here is a blast of motivation from Ms. Olympia, Jen Hendershott.  Remember, it doesn't matter what your sport, whether you're an amateur or professional, the most important point in reading this is to have the intention to learn from their attitude and adopt a winning attitude yourself.  Surround yourself with whatever you want to become and it will begin to materialize in your life.  So now to Jen:

GABRIELLE REILLY: What do you do to keep motivated?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: Read a lot of powerful inspirational books and go to church.  I find that these things remind me who I really am and why I am on earth.  YOU ONLY live once and you have to make this the best life ever.

GABRIELLE REILLY: How do you fit your overall training/dieting into your lifestyle?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: I just do it.  Its so crazy all the time.  I thrive on a tough schedule and am better when I am busy.  I am unstoppable and hard to bring down when I am moving and grooving all the time.  Balance and hard work makes anything happen successfully.

GABRIELLE REILLY: Do you have days when the last thing you want to do is step foot in a gym?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: All the time.  GEEZ!  Its tough to get going but I will tell you once i get into the groove I am golden.  I roll with it and remember really quick why I love the gym and why working out makes me feel awesome.

GABRIELLE REILLY: Do you change up your routine to fight boredom or do you use straight discipline and stick to the same regiment?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: Always change it up, boredom leads to failure.  I focus on the challenge and the creativity.  I like to stay interested and I live to see the next obstacle , so I can overcome it.

GABRIELLE REILLY:
Do you have allocated binge days/meals?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: NO not at all, you might as well step in front of a truck.  To me (and i have learned the hard way) this is destruction and gets me off focus.  Its to hard to work it off so why even do it.  i will stick to the plan and rock it out.

GABRIELLE REILLY:
What do you do when you feel like breaking your diet?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: I remember what its like to WIN!  I also say to myself " I HAVE HOW MANY DAYS TILL I HAVE TO GET IN A SUIT ON STAGE"  that's it,  NO more questions.LOL!

GABRIELLE REILLY: What do you focus on/visualize while you are training?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: Micheal Phelps is my man.  I remember the intense training athletes have to endure and remind myself that I am one of those and I have to remember what it takes.  Be insane and be successful.

GABRIELLE REILLY: Did you play any sports growing up?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: I danced from age 2-18 , Cheerleading for 20 years.  I also did some track and field.

GABRIELLE REILLY: Were you really muscular as a child/teenager?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: NO I graduated High School 108 pds and I am 5.4.  Now I compete at 118 pds.  Off season 130.

GABRIELLE REILLY: What/who was your first inspiration to begin the path to becoming a fitness competitor?

JEN HENDERSHOTT:  Mike Davies was the direction on the start of my career. I was his first ever client and he was my trainer/friend.  Neither of us knew what we were doing or how to do it but together we figured it out.  Here we are 10 Arnold Classics' later. WOW!

GABRIELLE REILLY: At what age did you start training?

JEN HENDERSHOTT:  Started really training at age 25, I found it so awesome.  To feel strong and powerful as a woman is something that many women lack.  The tomboy in me loves the hard core training and commitment!  Time flies!

GABRIELLE REILLY: For parents out there concerned about their children's health and obesity what words of advice would you offer them on fitness, motivation and diet for children?

JEN HENDERSHOTT:  LEAD BY EXAMPLE    : Do not expect your kids to do what you tell them, YOU do it and they will follow.  I think parents can be to pushy or do to much spoon feeding to their kids.  Make it simple.  Don't get them started on McDonalds and it will not become a habit for them.  Teach kids at a young age that food is not a comfort its a blessing.  Parents have to think and plan and prepare.

GABRIELLE REILLY: What age do you think is ideal for children/teenagers to start lifting weights?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: Oh geez I would say age 13 is great. Kids really start to mature and change.  ITs a good age to teach good habits and balance.  Maybe not even lifting weights but running and committing to a program.

GABRIELLE REILLY:
Do you work outside the fitness industry?

JEN HENDERSHOTT: NO I run 3 businesses.  I run Phat camps world wide http://www.getphatwithjen.com/

I run an online training program for people at http://www.getphatonline.com/

and I run http://www.getphatpromotions.com/ , this is to launch NPC , IFBB shows for women to become nationally qualified for bigger events.

END
