A Contemporary Landscape Artist
"After working with Aaron Norris I would highly recommend him. Not only is he obviously very talented, he is a dream to work with." Gabrielle Reilly CEO The Globaltownhall
Raised outside of the small town of Garden City, Missouri, I was surrounded by timber and pasture. I can remember watching storms roll through, slowly engulfing the tree lines and distant silos and cattle. There's something beautiful and haunting about it that I try to capture in my art. I've always loved the look of an unrestrained thunderstorm or the way a snow front moves in and blocks out the horizon. I want my work to reflect the ambivalence of nature and the idea that at any moment, a serene sky can turn violent if it wants. There's an energy it brings with it that I want to feel when I'm painting.
I've always felt that art should be tangible enough for someone to hold on to and relate to. I want my art to be thought-provoking and compelling to the viewer.
My influences range from the realistic contemporary work of April Gornik and Matthew Cornell, to the emotional landscapes of Andrew Wyeth. I'm also motivated by the underlying themes of the work of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.
I now live and paint from my home studio in Raymore, Missouri. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Missouri State University in 2003.
My current work can be seen at: The Rice Gallery
